چکیده

The Sympathetic Nervous System and the Regulation of Cerebral Blood Flow in Man • Pharmacological blockade of the a adrenergic system by 20 mg phentolamine I.V. was shown not to influence CBF in 14 patients with an intact cerebral autoregulation. If the autoregulation—tested with angiotensin—was impaired for some reason, CBF was found to follow proportionally the blood pressure changes provoked by the blockade. The physiological sympathetic stimulation provoked by distention of the bladder did not alter the CBF (seven patients). The CO2 reactivity was unaffected by the sympathetic a blockade (six patients). It appears from these studies that the sympathetic system does not play any substantial role in regulation of CBF in man, and thus it would seem useless to try to influence the cerebral circulation for therapeutic purposes by systemic application of drugs, which directly or indirectly work via the sympathetic system. Investigation of sympathetic mechanism of inverse relationship between scalp and leg blood flow with increasing intracranial pressure in the rabbit

Intracranial pressure (ICP) is one of most important factors in determining health and function of cerebroscular system. However the methods of measuring ICP are usually invasive . In an attempt to find a noninvasive method to assess ICP, in previous study web found a reverse relationships between changes in ICP and blood flow in scalp (SBF) and leg skin (LSBF) . In this study the role of sympa...

Role of Nitric Oxide and ATP-Sensitive K+ Channels in Regulation of Basal Blood Flow and Hypercapnic Vasodilatation of Cerebral Blood Vessels in Rabbit

Background: The mechanisms underlying cerebral hypercapnic vasodilatation are not fully understood. Objective: To investigate the role of nitric oxide (NO) and ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels in basal blood flow regulation and hypercapnia-induced vasodilatation in rabbit cerebral blood vessels. Methods: The change in cerebral blood flow was measured by a laser Doppler flowmeter in 18 Ne...

Role of Local Nerves and Prostaglandins in Regulation of Basal Blood Flow and Hypercapnic Vasodilatation of Cerebral Blood Vessels in the Rabbit

The mechanisms underlying cerebral vasodilatation during hypercapnia are not fully understood. To examine the role of nerves and prostaglandins in the regulation of basal blood flow and in hypercapnia-induced vasodilatation in the cerebral blood vessels of rabbit.Cerebral blood flow was measured by laser Doppler flow-meter in 18 NZW rabbits anesthetized with sodium pentobarbital.  Tetrodetoxin ...

CEREBRAL BLOOD FLOW REGULATION IN ANESTHETIZED MORPHINE DEPENDENT RATS: THE ROLE OF THE ADENOSINE SYSTEM

Adenosine has many of the characteristics of a regulator of cerebral blood flow and adenosine receptors change in morphine dependency. In this study the changes in adenosine receptors' responsiveness of pial vessels in the hind limb area of the sensory cortex were evaluated in morphine dependent rats (MDR) using the laser Doppler flowmetry technique. Adult male Sprague Dawley rats (250-350 ...
